Where to look for Fossils at Blue Anchor?

(Blue Anchor) - 2002

The Red Triassic cliffs do not contain any fossils, you will need to walk towards where the start of the gray cliffs begin. Around Blue Anchor point, blocks of bone bed can be seen around the foreshore. Some of these can be huge and some much smaller. Search around these blocks and look for any interesting bones.

Most of the bones are very small and can be found by splitting the bone bed rocks. Once you find a good block, it can last a long time if you split it into small pieces gradually. Alternatively take some samples back home for further splitting.

Sometimes, nodules can be found which contain larger bones. During our 1998 trip, a nodule with 4 large vertebras were found but sadly these had been badly damaged by the sea.
